Convenor Marks Update

What are the icons in the table header for?

If any information is incorrect, please contact your departmental co-ordinator.

This table displays a list of all the students taking your course and allows you to enter marks for contributory assessments.

IMPORTANT: Remember to save the marks you are entering frequently! Use the 'Save' button in the table header or footer.

As of January 2008, you can no longer toggle between the name and candidate number views on the Sussex Direct Convening pages. Instead, assessments are now set as viewable by name as the default. If you need the setting changed, you need to contact your School Curriculum Team. The changed setting will then be reflected in Sussex Direct.

If you have delegated the marking to a teaching group, you will not be able to enter the marks. However, once the course tutor has sent you the marks, you will be able to edit the marks and/or feedback.

Where marking has been delegated, the table displays the group to which it has been delegated.

Enter a student's mark as a number into the 'Mark' column. Enter the status by clicking on the drop-down list in the 'Status' column. You will no be able to enter a late flag if the assessment has been scanned at the submission point. The scanning process will enter the late flags automatically. If these late flags need to be amended you should contact your Departmental Office.

The maximum possible mark for the assignment is displayed in the table header. If the maximum mark for the assignment is less than 100, enter the marks as a whole number or as a number with a single decimal place. If the maximum mark is greater than or equal to 100, enter a whole number only.

You can also enter individual and general feedback for contributory and non-contributory assessments. The feedback and marks for contributory assessments will only be displayed to students when you have released the marks. If you enter a 0/NS mark/status the student will not see the general feedback. If marking is delegated, you can view the general feedback entered by Course Tutors by clicking on the 'View General Feedback' button.

Students who are auditing the course, and who are therefore not set up for formal assessments, are excluded from this list.

Please note that for Presentations - for which the date of presentation can vary across students - the Due Date is the final date on which a presentation can be given. Generally this date is set to the Friday of the 10th (final) week of term.

You can now release marks by individual student, by teaching group, or by course. To release marks for all students on the course, click the Release All button in the sub-header of the Release Marks table above. To release marks for a particular teaching group, click the Release All button in the appropriate row of the Release Marks table above. To release marks for an individual student, click the 'Edit' button in the Convenor Record Marks table header and tick the 'Released?' box for each student you wish to release marks to.

You can also unrelease marks at each of these levels, by clicking on the Unrelease All button at the course or teaching group level; or edit the Convenor Record Marks table and untick by student.

Send to External?

This shows marks that have been flagged on the Moderate Marks page to be sent to the external examiner. These marks will be selected when running the marks and feedback report (see below).

Marks and Feedback Report

This report will display each student's mark and individual feedback. The report icon will appear when the table is in 'view' mode. If the table is in edit mode, click the cancel icon to move to 'view' mode. When you click the report icon you can choose to display:

  • Only those students where 'send to external' has been ticked on the Moderate Marks page; OR
  • All students on the course

You can also choose to include /exclude general feedback.

Moderation

Enter sample number against each mark in sample.  Sample number will usually be 1.  If more than one round of moderation is required flag another batch using next unusued sample number.
