Cpt Salary Info

What are the icons in the table header for?

View the 'How do I...?' document.

Use this table to add, view, or edit information about staff members involved in your project proposal.

For directly allocated staff, if a proportion of time to be spent on the project relates to postgraduate student supervision, the time and cost of that supervision must be separately identified. To do this, select 'Add' in the table header. In the 'Staff Type' drop-down list select 'Academic Staff'. Enter information for them. Then select 'Add' again. This time you must select 'Student Supervision' from the 'Staff Type' drop-down list. This is because time spent on supervision does constitute part of the FEC of the project, but the cost of that time will not, at present, be met by certain types of sponsors, for example the Research Councils.

Person Name
Enter the names of staff who are going to be working on the project, both existing staff and new staff. Students should not be included. Existing staff are directly allocated costs. New staff working specifically on the grant are directly incurred costs. If the name of a new staff member is not yet known (for example they have to be recruited), you can leave the default text or enter more appropriate text.

Salary Basis
Directly incurred staff costs should normally be calculated on an actual cost basis using the current salary scales contained in the PCPT. Directly allocated staff costs should normally be calculated on a daily or hourly rate.

Investigators must choose the hourly salary option to cost their time to a project. It is University policy to use the banding option for salaries to keep personal salaries confidential.

Sponsor Name
If there is more than one sponsor, use the drop-down list to select the sponsor who will be funding this staff cost. If a staff cost will be funded by more than one sponsor, the staff member should have the same number of rows as there are sponsors funding the cost.

Appointment Start and End Dates
The dates shown here will be imported from the 'Project Details' table, but may be overridden if the dates of a particular appointment are different. No appointment dates may have a start date earlier than the start date or an end date later than the end date of the sponsor who is funding that appointment.
